Employing children as servants in households, eateries, stalls, restaurants and as labourers in hazardous industries is prohibited under the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, 1986.
Trafficking of children for work is a criminal offence
Penalties for employment of children in violation of the Child Labour Act: up to two years of imprisonment and and/or fine up to Rs. 20,000.
