Pratham’s 25 Years Celebration

We are happy to share with all that in January 2020 Pratham marked its silver jubilee. On the 7th of March 2020, we held an event to celebrate the completion of 25 years at the Y. B. Chavan Centre, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative started working in the slums of Mumbai in 1994 with the mission of “Every Child in School and Learning well” focusing on making quality education accessible to all children. Since then, the organization has grown both in scope and geography and is spread across 24 states, reaching over a million children per year through various interventions ranging from language and arithmetic literacy classes to child rights interventions, and more.

The chief guest at this event was Hon. Mr. Sharadji Pawar (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha); Hon. Ms. Varsha Gaikwad (Minister of School Education, Gov. of Maharashtra) was the guest of honor and Mr. Sachin Khedekar (leading film personality) was the special guest. Dr. Madhav Chavan and Ms. Farida Lambay the co-founders of Pratham and Dr. Rukmini Banerji, CEO Pratham were present with the chief guests on the dais.


Through the 25 years, there have different stakeholders, well-wishers, supporters who have helped Pratham reach the point it is at and we on this day took the opportunity to felicitate them for their ongoing involvement with us. The various institutions, governmental departments, well-wishers were felicitated. Also the different Pratham program teams were felicitated for their relentless work and dedication to the organization and the official program ended. Post the ending of the official program, a celebration for people from across all Pratham programs was organized and a musical evening for them was planned as a surprise, which was enjoyed by all present there.

The event ended with thoughts and ideas on the upcoming future of Pratham and how we shall strive in bring a safer childhood and better education for all children.

On 11th April 2019 PCVC facilitated a meeting with all concerned authorities like Child Welfare Committee (CWC), railway police, railways Childlines and NGOs. All the decision-making authorities like the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Deputy Commissionaire of Police (GRP), CWC Chairpersons and NGO representatives were present.
