The Music & Dance program was started in Mumbai in the year 2006. It was with the intention to make recreation an important part of the lives of the children living in the shelter homes. Trained music and dance teachers ensured that they teach the basics to all children; however the aim was to identify hidden talent among these children and give them proper coaching to make them more confident.
The program is unique and an integral part of the residential shelter program in Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh. Last year it was expanded to Government run institutions and other children in the communities. The children now write their own songs, compose them and record it all by themselves. The program has proved to be a stress buster for the children and has helped many children to get adjusted to the routine of the shelter homes and educational classes.
